Unlock the Power of XENTRY Diagnostics with StartKey: A Guide for Independent Workshops

Specifically designed for independent workshops, XENTRY Diagnosis Lite presents a specialized diagnostic solution compatible with standard PCs. This accessible variant operates seamlessly on conventional hardware, offering a cost-effective yet powerful tool for servicing Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The package includes the essential XENTRY Diagnosis VCI hardware, ensuring reliable communication with the vehicle’s systems.

Is XENTRY Diagnosis Lite Right for Your Independent Workshop?

XENTRY Diagnosis Lite is exclusively available to independent operators, in accordance with EC regulation 2018/858. To expedite your application, verification of eligibility is required, confirming your status as a motor vehicle workshop or a company engaged in motor vehicle repairs. This necessitates the submission of pertinent documentation such as a trade license, commercial register entry, proof of professional qualification in the motor vehicle trade, or another official document validating your business purpose.

Key Ordering Considerations for XENTRY Diagnosis Lite

IMPORTANT Guidelines:

  • XENTRY Diagnosis Lite is exclusively for standard PCs that are not currently associated with an active StartKey or contract. This StartKey is your Xentry Diagnostics Starkey, the digital key to unlocking the full potential of the software.
  • For workshops already utilizing a XENTRY Pass Thru EU system with an active StartKey/contract on a particular hardware ID, ordering XENTRY Diagnosis Lite for the same hardware is not permissible. A separate, unoccupied standard PC must be used, or you must wait until the existing XENTRY Pass Thru EU contract concludes.

XENTRY Diagnosis Lite Pricing Structure

The investment in XENTRY Diagnosis Lite comprises both fixed and variable cost elements:

Fixed Costs:

  • Annual flat user fee, specific to the product, covering online operating costs and access to support services. (This annual fee is applicable upon contract renewal, not for initial orders).
  • One-time hardware expense for the XENTRY Diagnosis COM Kit, which includes the VCI and supplementary items.

Variable Costs:

  • Consumption of pre-purchased time credit units, which are necessary for accessing diagnostic data.
  • Automated management of these time credit units directly by the diagnostics application.
  • A credit unit is activated upon launching the diagnostics system and remains in use until its expiration, regardless of whether the diagnostics session is concluded or if vehicle changes occur.
Flat-rate user fee (1 year) €180.00 / year (Applicable only for contract extensions, not for the initial order)
Hardware-costs, one-time €1,522.00 (One-time purchase)
1 hour
MB passenger car incl. VAN, smart, EQ, Maybach €15.90

Important Considerations:

XENTRY Diagnosis Lite is designed to perform diagnostics on vehicles within the XENTRY Diagnosis series manufactured from model year 2004 onwards.

The contract for XENTRY Diagnosis Lite is set for a duration of 12 months. The XENTRY Diagnosis COM Kit (VCI) is provided as a purchased device, granting you ownership. Access to the software, software updates, diagnostic data via time credits, and authorization for support services extends for 42 months. Continued access beyond this period is contingent on ongoing hardware support availability and payment of annual usage fees for diagnostic data throughout the contract duration.

Geographical Restriction: Please be aware that XENTRY Diagnosis Lite orders are only accepted from users with a business address within the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Key Benefits of XENTRY Diagnosis Lite for Your Workshop

  • Receive a fully integrated software and hardware solution, specifically designed to work together and support a wide range of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, vans, and smart models manufactured from 2004 onwards (excluding smart model #1). Unlike XENTRY Pass Thru EU, you are not restricted to Euro 5 and Euro 6 certified vehicles.
  • Gain access to the XENTRY Diagnosis VCI, previously exclusive to XENTRY Diagnosis Pad/Pad2 bundles. Now, you can leverage this powerful VCI with the XENTRY Diagnostics Open Shell software on your existing standard computer, enhancing your workshop’s capabilities without significant new hardware investments.
  • Experience superior communication reliability and speed between the software and the XENTRY Diagnosis VCI. This proven combination outperforms generic pass-thru VCIs, ensuring efficient and stable diagnostic processes.
  • Benefit from comprehensive software and hardware support* throughout your contract, providing peace of mind and expert assistance when needed.

*Hardware support specifically pertains to the XENTRY Diagnosis COM Kit components (refer to the scope of delivery).

System Requirements for Optimal Performance

To effectively utilize XENTRY Diagnosis Lite, a unique hardware-dependent StartKey is essential – your xentry diagnostics starkey.

After completing the basic setup using the download link provided in Mercedes-Benz B2B Connect, you can conveniently order the necessary StartKey directly from the same platform. The hardware ID required for StartKey ordering can be easily retrieved using the “ConfigAssist” tool located within “System Data”.

Important Note on Time Credits

Once activated, a credit unit remains valid until it expires, even if the diagnosis session concludes or vehicles are changed. Time credits purchased in error or no longer needed are non-refundable and cannot be returned. Unused or unactivated time credits at contract expiration are also non-refundable. However, any remaining credit balance will be transferred if you choose to extend your contract, ensuring your investment is protected.

Usage Guidelines: Maintaining Online Connectivity

To access diagnostic content effectively, a continuous online connection is necessary for the following critical functions:

  • Accessing diagnostic data for each diagnosis session.
  • Verifying access authorizations for data content (StartKey validation).
  • Checking contractual data to ensure compliance and service continuity.

New Mandatory Login Procedure for Enhanced Security

Our updated security protocol implements a two-stage login process to ensure secure access and usage of the XENTRY Diagnosis software:

Firstly, log in using your personal User ID and password. Secondly, you must possess the standard diagnostics role. Application for this role is facilitated through the UMAS platform.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of the identification procedure. This can also be initiated via UMAS, unless a local identification process is established in your market. Your assigned role will be activated via the designated button on the platform. Importantly, the identification process via UMAS/IDnow is a one-time requirement.

This enhanced security standard applies across all brands and divisions, mandating personal login for all diagnostic users to access diagnostic devices. Anonymous access to vehicle systems and back-end services is no longer supported. The standard diagnostics role is generally required for all diagnostic activities. For control unit commissioning in series 213 model update 2020 onwards, including series 223, the new extended XENTRY Flash role is necessary.

Role Assignment Breakdown:

1. XENTRY Standard Diagnostic Rights:

Each diagnostic user must independently apply for standard diagnostic rights via https://umas.mercedes-benz.com/umas/ and complete the one-time identification process. Independent service providers (independent workshops) without an existing User ID can apply for one via: https://umas.mercedes-benz.com/orgprocess/. Select “New Registration” if your organization is not yet registered as a Mercedes-Benz Group AG customer, or “Registered Organization” if your organization is registered but you lack a personal User ID.

For assistance, contact your local IT administrator or utilize the support button (headset icon) on the right side of the UMAS page.

2. XENTRY Flash Authorization:

Both XENTRY Flash roles (Standard-Flash and Extended Flash for all CeBAS vehicles) can be requested via UMAS. Each user must complete a one-time identification process via UMAS to obtain Flash roles.

Further details on XENTRY diagnostic user rights and Flash rights are available here.
