Setting up your Xentry Connect C5 for the first time is a crucial step to ensure seamless and efficient Mercedes-Benz diagnostics. This guide will walk you through the initial configuration process, highlighting key aspects like network setup and power considerations, which are vital for the longevity and performance of your device, especially its battery.
Before you begin, it’s essential to have your XENTRY Connect MAC addresses (Wi-Fi and LAN) registered within your workshop network. Your IT supervisor or service provider can assist with this. You can locate these MAC addresses on the stickers affixed to your XENTRY Connect C5 device.
Your Xentry Connect package includes a network questionnaire. It’s imperative to have this form completed by your IT supervisor before proceeding with the initial startup. This pre-filled questionnaire will streamline the configuration process and prevent potential complications later on.
The latest Mercedes diagnostic software, dated 09.2017, is included with your Xentry Connect C5. Now you can commence the network configuration. Ensure your XENTRY Connect is fully charged and powered on. The initial startup can take up to 10 minutes. Importantly, you can initiate the configuration while both the XENTRY Connect and your laptop are charging, ensuring the Xentry Connect C5 Battery is getting a full charge from the outset. Always use the correct power supply units to protect your device and battery.
Launch the XENTRY Control software from the desktop shortcut on your laptop. ConfigAssist should open automatically. If not, you can access it via the “Configuration” menu.
Keep your completed network questionnaire readily available. ConfigAssist will prompt you to choose a configuration method. For a fresh setup, it’s generally recommended to select “New without existing configuration data”.
Continue to follow the ConfigAssist prompts, carefully entering the required information from your network questionnaire. Next, power on the XENTRY Connect device, which should have completed its initial installation process.
In the final steps, the configuration settings are transferred from your laptop to the XENTRY Connect C5. You will be asked to connect the devices using the provided black Ethernet cable. This wired connection is only necessary for the configuration phase. Once the configuration is successful, a green tile displaying the XENTRY Connect C5 number will appear. You can now disconnect the Ethernet cable to utilize the WLAN connection for diagnostics and online functionalities. Click on the green tile to retrieve the data needed to order your StartKey.
With these steps completed, your Xentry Connect C5 is configured and ready for use. Proper initial setup, including attention to power and network settings, contributes to optimal performance and battery health of your diagnostic tool.
