Vediamo Xentry VCI Speed Comparison: TabScan T6 Outpaces C6 Clone

As an automotive repair professional at xentryportal.store, I recently put the TabScan T6 and a VCI C6 clone through their paces to evaluate their performance with various diagnostic software. My primary focus was to determine if the advertised iOS app features of the TabScan T6 would function as expected on my vehicle. Additionally, I wanted to rigorously compare the speed and stability of the TabScan T6 MUX against the VCI C6 clone when used with industry-standard software like Xentry, Vediamo, and DTS Monaco. This review details my findings, specifically highlighting the performance differences relevant to users of Vediamo Xentry Vci systems.

For this comparative test, I utilized a Dell 5300 laptop equipped with an Intel Core i7 8665U processor, 32GB of RAM, and a 500GB NVMe SSD. The software suite included Xentry (09.2023), Vediamo (05.01.01), and DTS Monaco (8.16), all running on Windows 11 Pro.

Setting up both devices was straightforward, but with a notable difference. For the C6 clone, I installed the latest 1.0.0.5 drivers. The TabScan T6 setup was even simpler, requiring only the installation of the “TabScan PC Management Tool,” which automatically handles driver installation and downloads necessary files. This streamlined driver installation process is a significant advantage of the TabScan T6, contrasting with my past experience with the C6 clone where obtaining the correct drivers required contacting the seller. However, both devices ultimately achieved proper driver installation and were ready for testing.

Both the VCI C6 clone and the TabScan T6 are recognized as eCOM devices within Vediamo and DTS Monaco. Crucially, Xentry required no additional configuration in VCI Manager or system settings for either device. After driver installation and a system reboot, both were seamlessly integrated and operational within the diagnostic environment, ready for Vediamo Xentry VCI operations.

I commenced testing with the C6 clone, performing standard bench tests on EIS222 and IC222 modules. Interestingly, the C6 exhibited a slightly longer initial data acquisition phase before initiating the quick test. In direct comparison, the TabScan T6 completed this initial phase noticeably faster.

To validate these initial observations, I conducted quick tests on my personal S205 (2017 model). Both devices performed reliably and swiftly, but the TabScan T6 consistently demonstrated faster performance in running quick tests and clearing diagnostic trouble codes. This speed advantage became even more apparent when moving beyond basic diagnostics.

Within Vediamo, the performance of both devices was largely comparable. This similarity likely stems from Vediamo’s architecture and the older system protocols it utilizes. However, DTS Monaco revealed a more significant performance gap. The TabScan T6 exhibited remarkable speed improvements in DTS Monaco. Navigating between menu items and implementing VCD changes was noticeably quicker with the T6 compared to the C6 clone. The responsiveness and speed of the TabScan T6 in DTS Monaco were impressive enough to warrant sharing video demonstrations with colleagues, including a VXDIAG SE user who was equally astonished by the T6’s rapid performance. This speed is a key factor for professionals heavily reliant on Vediamo Xentry VCI and DTS Monaco for in-depth diagnostics and module programming.

An unexpected finding was the stable WiFi capability of the TabScan T6. While I typically prefer a wired connection to mitigate potential WiFi-related issues during critical diagnostic procedures, I inadvertently tested the T6 over WiFi and found its performance to be surprisingly stable and smooth. This wireless functionality adds another layer of flexibility to the TabScan T6.

In summary, both the VCI C6 clone and TabScan T6 functioned flawlessly with Xentry and associated diagnostic programs. However, the TabScan T6 consistently demonstrated superior speed, particularly within DTS Monaco and during initial vehicle data acquisition. For users prioritizing speed and efficiency in their Vediamo Xentry VCI workflow, especially those utilizing DTS Monaco extensively, the TabScan T6 presents a compelling advantage. If you are interested in witnessing the TabScan T6’s speed firsthand, please contact me, and I can provide video demonstrations showcasing its performance. While I previously had C6 demonstration videos, my C6 kit has recently been sold. Stay tuned for further evaluations as I explore additional features of the TabScan T6 and report on their functionality.
