Our client sought a significant audio upgrade, prioritizing sound purity and robust output without drastic alterations to the vehicle’s factory appearance. This objective guided our equipment selection and installation approach. The chosen components, designed to synergize for optimal performance, included:
- Nav-TV Zen M: For seamless integration with the Mercedes OEM system.
- Helix DSP Ultra with Helix Conductor: Providing advanced audio processing and control.
- (2) Mosconi Pro 5|30 Amplifiers: Delivering substantial and clean power to the speakers.
- Focal Utopia TBM Tweeters: Renowned for their exceptional high-frequency clarity.
- Focal Utopia M 3.5WM Midranges: Ensuring detailed and accurate mid-frequency reproduction.

The installation began with the fabrication of a custom amplifier rack. The Mercedes S65 AMG Coupe, lacking a spare tire and factory jack, offered an ideal space for a discreet, yet accessible amplifier setup. We designed a steel rack to utilize the existing OEM subwoofer mounting points, ensuring a secure and easily removable structure. This approach allowed for serviceability while maximizing space efficiency. The rack was meticulously fabricated, ground smooth, primed, and coated with bedliner for enhanced protection and durability, reflecting our commitment to both performance and longevity.
The Helix DSP Ultra and Mosconi amplifiers were strategically positioned on the rack, ready for wiring. Attention to detail extended to cable management; speaker wires were routed to a quick connect system, simplifying removal and ensuring a clean installation. Only the subwoofer connections, requiring higher current capacity, utilized separate, robust connectors. This meticulous wiring approach guarantees signal integrity and system reliability.
To achieve the desired OEM Plus aesthetic, a trim piece was fabricated and wrapped in matching OEM vinyl. This concealed the amplifier rack and wiring beneath the factory floor board, resulting in a seamless integration that appears as if it were original equipment. This commitment to visual subtlety ensures that the enhanced audio system blends perfectly with the Mercedes S65 AMG Coupe’s sophisticated interior.
