Hello fellow racers! Excited to share my first tuning setups for the much-loved Mercedes Benz Clk Lm in Gran Turismo 7. These tunes are designed for enjoyable driving, avoiding twitchiness or excessive oversteer, while ensuring you’re still incredibly fast on the track. I’m not a pro tuner, but I focus on creating balanced and effective setups for everyone to enjoy.
Let’s dive into the tunes, starting with a PP800 setup perfect for Sardegna and Spa grinding.
For this PP800 tune, ideal for racking up those wins at Sardegna and Spa, we’ll use the following modifications:
- Low-pressure turbo
- Racing Hard tires (Intermediates and Wet tires are recommended for Spa due to variable weather)
- Racing gearbox
- Power restrictor and ballast (not utilized in this particular tune)
The core of the setup focuses on suspension and aerodynamics. We’ll be raising the ride height and stiffening the front anti-roll bar for better turn-in response. Aerodynamically, we’re aiming for lower front downforce and higher rear downforce to enhance stability and cornering grip. Finally, the gearbox is set to a top speed of 310 km/h.
The low-pressure turbo is key here, providing a fantastic balance between performance and fuel efficiency. In my Sardegna test run, I was able to run for the first 8 laps on Fuel Map 2, pit at the end of lap 8 for tires and a full fuel load, and then complete the remaining 7 laps on Fuel Map 1. For optimal fuel saving and to stay within the engine’s peak torque range with the low-pressure turbo, shift gears around the halfway point on the rev counter when using the hood or bumper camera view. No need to push it to the absolute redline!
My initial run with this setup resulted in consistent low 1:34 lap times and a total race time of 24:29. This was achieved with a relaxed driving style and some minor errors entering turn 1, plus a couple of unavoidable incidents with slower AI. There’s definitely room for improvement and faster times with more aggressive driving.
Next up, we have a PP700 tune specifically tailored for conquering Le Mans. This setup differs by removing the turbocharger and incorporating ECU, power restrictor, and ballast adjustments. The suspension setup remains similar to the PP800 tune, while the gearbox is adjusted for a 280 km/h top speed.
With this PP700 configuration, achieving easy 4:10 lap times at Le Mans is very manageable without pushing the car to its absolute limit. Running on Fuel Map 1 at full throttle throughout the race is viable due to excellent fuel economy. You can comfortably complete 4 laps on a single tank when driving aggressively. For a 7-lap race, a single pit stop for fuel only (no tire change needed) after 4 laps will set you up for an easy victory. Keep an eye on weather conditions, but the updated game often allows running slicks even during light rain periods.
Overall, I’ve found the Mercedes Benz CLK LM to be exceptionally driver-friendly in GT7. Its cornering ability surpasses the Sauber C9, and in PP800 trim, it boasts impressive power and straight-line speed. It’s a car that simply pulls and inspires confidence.
Feel free to test these tunes out and let me know what you think! I’m always open to suggestions for improvement, especially regarding suspension and differential settings. If you’ve developed your own superior tunes for the CLK LM, please share them – I’m eager to learn from your setups as well.
Happy racing!
