Prepare for Enhanced Security: XENTRY Flash Operations from Q4 2022 Require Additional Authentication

As an automotive repair professional, staying ahead of technological advancements is crucial. Mercedes-Benz has implemented an important update to enhance the security of XENTRY Flash operations. Starting in the fourth quarter of 2022, accessing programming and coding functions for control units will require a second layer of authentication for every user, in addition to your standard username and password login. This change is designed to provide a more secure environment for your diagnostic procedures performed through systems like the Xentry Portal.

To ensure uninterrupted access to these essential functions from the fourth quarter of 2022 onwards, you will need to set up one of the following authentication methods:

  • Smartphone Application Authentication: Utilize an application on your smartphone to generate authentication codes.

    OR

  • USB Security Key: Employ a USB security key. You have the flexibility to use a security key of your choice, provided it adheres to the FIDO2 standard. These keys are readily available from electronics retailers or directly from manufacturers.

We strongly recommend configuring both authentication options immediately. Having a backup authentication method ensures you can continue your work seamlessly even if you lose access to one of your primary solutions.

To guide you through the setup process, we have created a concise HelpCard available for download.
