Amazon Electrifies its Fleet with Landmark Order of 200 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 Trucks

Amazon has placed a monumental order for over 200 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 heavy-duty electric trucks, marking the largest electric truck order in the history of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Amazon’s most significant commitment to electric heavy goods vehicles to date. This massive deployment of 200 Mercedes Benz eActros 600 units underscores Amazon’s dedication to pioneering sustainable transportation solutions and significantly electrifying its European logistics network.

From 2025, these state-of-the-art electric trucks will become integral to Amazon’s transportation operations in Germany and the UK. These 200 Mercedes Benz eActros 600 vehicles are projected to handle the transportation of over 350 million packages annually, all while producing zero-exhaust emissions. This strategic move to incorporate 200 Mercedes Benz eActros 600 trucks into their fleet highlights Amazon’s proactive approach to achieving its Climate Pledge commitment to net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

The decision to incorporate the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 followed rigorous practical testing of a near-series prototype at one of Amazon’s German logistics centers. This trial period provided invaluable real-world insights, paving the way for this substantial order of 200 Mercedes Benz eActros 600 trucks.

Karin Rådström, Chairwoman of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck AG, expressed her enthusiasm: “We are very pleased that Amazon, a pioneer in the transformation towards alternative drives, has chosen the eActros 600, a gamechanger for sustainable transportation.” Her statement emphasizes the significance of this partnership and the eActros 600’s role in revolutionizing eco-friendly logistics.

Stina Fagerman, Head of Marketing, Sales and Services Mercedes-Benz Trucks, further highlighted the importance of the collaboration: “Amazon is an important customer for us on the path towards CO2-neutral transport. A near-series prototype of the eActros 600 has already been trialed by Amazon, providing valuable insights before the start of series production. We are therefore very pleased about this major order for the eActros 600.”

Andreas Marschner, Vice President of Worldwide Operations Sustainability at Amazon, stated, “The order of more than 200 eActros 600 underlines our commitment to being a leader in electrifying our transportation network in Europe. It is the biggest electric heavy truck order by Amazon to date anywhere in the world and is an important step as we work to achieve our Climate Pledge commitment to reach net-zero carbon emissions across our operations by 2040.” Marschner’s words emphasize the global impact of this order of 200 Mercedes Benz eActros 600 trucks and its crucial role in Amazon’s sustainability strategy.

The eActros 600: A New Era in Electric Trucking

The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 is engineered for long-haul operations, boasting a high battery capacity exceeding 600 kilowatt hours. This substantial power, combined with a newly developed, highly efficient electric drive axle, allows the truck to achieve a remarkable range of 500 kilometers on a single charge. This range capability is achieved under realistic operating conditions with a 40-ton gross combination mass, and can even be extended depending on driving style and route conditions.

The eActros 600 is designed for high daily mileage, capable of covering well over 1,000 kilometers per day with intermediate charging during legally mandated driver breaks, provided suitable charging infrastructure is available. While equipped for CCS charging up to 400 kW, the eActros 600 will also be future-proofed for megawatt charging solutions.

Beyond its technical capabilities, the eActros 600 features a visually striking, minimalist design prioritizing aerodynamics and efficiency. Mercedes-Benz Trucks envisions the eActros 600 setting new benchmarks for profitability in fleet operations, positioning it as a viable and superior replacement for diesel trucks in the long-distance transport sector. Mercedes-Benz Trucks is committed to providing a comprehensive electric transportation ecosystem, offering not just the vehicle, but also consulting, charging infrastructure solutions under the TruckCharge brand, and a suite of services.

The eActros 600’s real-world performance has been validated through extensive testing, including customer use and the rigorous “eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024,” a 15,000-kilometer all-electric journey across 22 countries with a 40-ton gross combination mass. Further solidifying its industry leadership, the eActros 600 was honored with the prestigious “International Truck of the Year 2025” award, judged by 24 European commercial vehicle journalists. The Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth am Rhein commenced series production of the eActros 600 at the end of 2024, marking the beginning of a new chapter in sustainable logistics with vehicles like these 200 Mercedes Benz eActros 600 trucks leading the charge.

This landmark order of 200 Mercedes Benz eActros 600 trucks signifies a major leap forward in the electrification of heavy-duty transport and reinforces the commitment of both Amazon and Mercedes-Benz Trucks to a greener future for logistics.
