Registration and Identification for XENTRY Pass Thru EU Access
Since 2021, Mercedes-Benz has implemented a two-stage security concept to ensure secure access and usage of the XENTRY Diagnosis software.
Stage 1: Personal User ID and Password
Since the 03/2021 release, logging in with your personal User ID and password has been mandatory for accessing XENTRY Pass Thru EU.
Stage 2: Standard Diagnostic Role (Effective March 15, 2022)
From March 15, 2022, a standard diagnostic role is also required for all diagnostic activities within XENTRY Pass Thru EU. You can apply for this role via the UMAS platform.
Prerequisites for Obtaining Diagnostic Roles:
Successful completion of the identification procedure is a prerequisite. This process can also be initiated through UMAS, unless a local identification procedure is utilized in your market. Once identified, you can obtain your diagnostic role via the designated button on the UMAS platform. Importantly, the identification process via UMAS/IDnow is a one-time procedure.
Enhanced Security Measures:
With the Release 06/2020, a robust security concept was introduced to protect diagnostic access and backend services. Personalized logins became mandatory starting with the 213 model update in 2020 and the 223 passenger car series. This heightened security standard applies across all brands and divisions, necessitating individual logins for all diagnostic users on every diagnostic device. Anonymous access to vehicle systems and backend services is no longer permitted, ensuring data integrity and system security.
Standard and Extended XENTRY Flash Roles:
From March 15, 2022, the standard diagnostics role is essential for all diagnostic operations. For ECU commissioning in series 213 model update 2020 and 223 vehicles, the new extended XENTRY Flash role is necessary.
Applying for Diagnostic and Flash Rights:
1. XENTRY Standard Diagnosis Rights:
Every diagnostic user must independently apply for standard diagnosis rights through the https://umas.mercedes-benz.com/umas platform and complete the one-time identification process. If you are an Independent Service Provider (independent workshop) and do not have a User ID, you can apply for one via: https://umas.mercedes-benz.com/orgprocess/
Select “New Registration” if your organization is not yet registered as a Mercedes-Benz Group AG customer. If your organization is registered but you lack a personal User ID, choose “Registered Organization”.
For assistance, contact your local IT administrator or reach out to support via the headset icon on the right side of the UMAS page.
2. XENTRY Flash Authorization:
Both XENTRY Flash roles (Standard-Flash role and Extended Flash role for all CeBAS vehicles) can be requested through UMAS. Each user needs to undergo a one-time identification via UMAS to obtain Flash roles.
Further details on XENTRY diagnostic user rights and Flash rights are available here.
